Former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan was Tuesday sentenced to 10 years in jail in a case in which he was accused of leaking state secrets. Mr Khan, who was ousted by his opponents as PM in 2022, is already serving a three-year jail term after being convicted of corruption. He has called all the charges against him politically motivated. Police are investigating claims by a Chinese woman she lost Sh1 million from her apartment in Syokimau, Machakos County. The woman identified as Ao Ruihan Abby and aged 27 told police the incident happened on Sunday January 28. She said she left her apartment after locking it for errands in town. Police made arrests in connection with six bodies discovered in a remote area of the Mojave Desert in southern California. The unidentified bodies were originally found on 23 January off a highway in the town of El Mirage, located in San Bernardino county. Toyota urged owners of 50,000 older vehicles in the US to get immediate repairs as air bag inflators made by Takata could explode and kill them. The “Do Not Drive” advisory covers some of the world’s biggest carmaker’s models from 2003 to 2005. Since 2009, more than 30 deaths have been linked to air bag inflators produced by Takata. Toyota says “if the airbag deploys, a part inside is more likely to explode and shoot sharp metal fragments”. The US government released the names of three troops killed by an enemy drone attack in Jordan on Sunday. Sgt William Jerome Rivers, 46, Specialist Kennedy Ladon Sanders, 24 and Specialist Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, 23 were killed when a drone hit their housing unit. An advocate of the High Court succumbed to his injuries after a gun attack by suspected bandits on the Isiolo-Modogashe Road. Police said Anthony Gathitu Kabathi, a lawyer with the Kabuthi and Company Advocates law firm in Nairobi was driving back to Nairobi from a client meeting in Garissa when he was attacked near Laga Logo, about five kilometers from a police camp. Two people were Monday charged with murder before Kiambu High Court in connection with the murder of Meru based blogger Daniel Muthiani Bernard Alias Sniper. Vincent Murithi Kirimi Alias Supuu O’mioro and Murangiri Kenneth Guantai Alias Tali were charged with murder contrary to Section 203 as read with Section 204 of the Penal Code (Cap. 63) after the mental assessments determined that they were both fit to stand trial. A 20-year-old woman who went missing from her home two weeks ago was Monday found raped and murdered in Kinale forest, Kiambu County.  Police said the body of the girl was found abandoned in the forest, covered in blood and with injuries that suggested she was sexually assaulted. Her body was moved to the Naivasha District Hospital mortuary pending autopsy.
