A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing his wife at her parents’ home in Kipsolu, Kericho County over a marital dispute. Police said the incident happened Friday January 26. The suspect had travelled from Borborwet to his wife’s home to sort out their domestic issues. The deceased wife identified as Lonah Chepkemoi, had left the suspect’s home to her home after a disagreement. The national electoral body has gazetted 13 new nominated Members of County Assembly (MCA) for UDA party at the Uasin Gishu County Assembly. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission at the same time degazetted 13 others who have been serving as MCAs but lost a court battle over the nomination slots. The move by the IEBC follows an order by High Court Judge Reuben Nyakundi. Three students were Friday arrested in connection with the murder of Kabarak University nursing student, police said.  Police have also established slain student Derrick Malumasa Sabuni, 23 may have not been killed at the site where his body was found on Friday morning. A New York jury decided Donald Trump should pay $83.3m (Sh13 billion) for defaming columnist E Jean Carroll in 2019 while he was US president. The jury’s penalty in the civil trial is made up of $18.3m for compensatory damages and $65m in punitive damages. The US government approved the $23bn (£18bn) sale of 40 new F-16 fighter jets to Turkey – a move that had been long delayed – after Ankara ratified Sweden’s accession to Nato. The World Court on Friday ordered Israel to take action to prevent acts of genocide as it wages war against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip, but it stopped short of calling for an immediate ceasefire. The High Court has once again rescheduled the verdict for the case involving Joseph Irungu alias Jowie and former Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe. The appellate court dismissed the State’s applications seeking a stay of execution for the judgment that found the Housing Levy to be unconstitutional. Police are investigating two separate incidents of drowning involving two children in Kirinyaga and Makueni Counties. The first incident happened in Salama village, Kibwezi where primary school children ventured into a dam to swim. It was then a boy aged 11 drowned in the water.
