Four people drowned on Wednesday night after the vehicle they were travelling in was swept away by floods in Kitui County. Reports indicate that the vehicle, a double cabin, belonging to Prime Telcoms Limited, had six occupants when the incident happened at around 11pm after Mutindi seasonal river burst its banks. According to Matinyani sub-county police commander John Sawe, two people managed to escape to safety as the vehicle was swept away. KTN TV host Tonny Gachoka was on Wednesday arrested at Diani Airstrip in Kwale County for causing disturbance after he was barred from boarding a plane to Nairobi with alcoholic drinks. Police reports indicate that Gachoka, who was set to board a Silverstone Air flight, insisted that he wanted to board the plane with the drinks contrary to the airline’s regulations leading to a confrontation with the attendants. A Nairobi court has directed that DNA tests be carried out to help in settling the succession row in the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s family. Sarah Wairimu, the prime suspect in Dutch tycoon Tob Cohen, has accused the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti and two local media journalists of contempt of a valid court order. Moses Wainana, the owner of Precious Talent Academy that collapsed last month killing eight students, was on Monday released from police custody. Wainaina was arraigned at Kibera Law Courts where he was charged with eight counts of manslaughter. He denied all the charges and was released on Ksh500,000 cash bail with a surety of the same amount and a credible contact person. The court heard that the accident was an act of God.
