The remains of 28 of 32 Kenyans, who were killed in the Ethiopian Airline’s crash, have finally been flown home seven months after the tragedy. An Ethiopian Airline plane carrying the fragments of the deceased landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Monday morning. The Kenyans were among 157 passengers who perished during the March 10, 2019, Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crash near the town of Bishoftu, southeast of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Passenger and cargo carrier Air Afrik has announced plans to lay off 80 per cent of its employees as part of the company’s restructuring process. The High Court on Friday temporary suspended the impeachment of Taita Governor Granton Samboja. The ill-fated vehicle in the Likoni ferry tragedy has finally been retrieved from the Indian ocean. The vehicle with registration number KCB 289C was secured by divers from the Kenyan Navy at around noon and was lifted from the sea a few minutes past 4pm. The vehicle contains the bodies of Mariam Kighenda and her 4-year-old daughter Amanda Mutheu. Social media giant, Facebook, has scaled up its efforts to curb the spread of fake news by extending its Third-Party Fact-Checking programme to 10 additional African countries. Facebook announced on Tuesday that it will be partnering with four independent fact-checking organizations in the counties to curb misinformation.
