Motorists plying Kingara and Naivasha roads in Dagoretti, Nairobi, have been notified of an impending closure of the roads to pave way for relocation of services. Two people died on Sunday morning after a head-on collision involving two lorries in Gilgil along the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway. According to reports, drivers of the two lorries died on the spot. Two other people, suspected to be turnboys, sustained serious injuries during the incident. Stephen Matu, Nakuru County Police Commander, confirmed the incident saying one of the lorries was headed to Nairobi from Nakuru and the driver attempted to overtake thereby ramming into the other oncoming lorry. The Kenya Railways has suspended a directive it had issued last week on Wednesday banning foodstuffs and beverages in the Standard Gauge Railway better known as SGR. Eight people were on Saturday arrested in connection with the murder of Rai Cement General Manager Chetan Vyas in Kericho County. According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspects were arrested after extensive forensic investigations placed them at the scene of crime. Among those arrested are five supervisors at the firm. They include 38-year-old Salim, 24-year-old Osman Noor, Mohammed Shahid, 38, Yacob Ali, 24, and 29-year-old Shabdin Ismail. Police on Friday seized 25, 200 rolls of bhang with an estimated value of Ksh12.6 million in Kiembeni estate, Kisauni, Mombasa County. Sarah Wairimu, wife of murdered Dutch tycoon Tob Cohen, will know her bail fate on Friday, October 11, after she pleaded not guilty to murder charges levelled against her. Several people are feared trapped after a building under construction collapsed on Thursday in Malaba Sub-county, Kakamega County. The building is said to have caved in at around 9.00 am. Starehe Girls National School has been closed indefinitely following an outbreak of a mysterious disease in the institution.
