Students in tertiary institutions have been dealt a blow after a national assembly committee rejected a Bill proposing lower interest rates and a longer repayment grace period on higher education loans. Four people have been arrested after being caught by police stealing from a lorry loaded with steel rods worth Sh1.8 million in Kendu Bay, Homa Bay County. Police said the lorry had been dispatched from Kisumu’s Abyssian Iron and Steel Company and was headed to Kisii when the incident occurred. At least 10 people are feared trapped in rubble after a five-storey building collapsed in Gachie, Kiambu County, on Monday afternoon. The building had been built up to the fifth floor and laborers were working on the sixth floor when the tragedy struck at around 3pm. Kenya has recorded 363 more cases of Covid-19 from a sample size of 4,594 tested in the last 24 hours. Total confirmed positive cases are now 234,952 from 2,363,524 samples tested so far.
