A 29-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital following an attack by angry guards in Kajiado. The irate guards are reported to have descended on Joshua Kalama after an attempt to attack one of them using a plastic toy pistol at Square bare located in Kajiado town on Saturday morning. Kalama had attempted to gain entry into the entertainment joint before he was stopped by the guard identified as Cleophas Otieno. Kenya has recorded 932 new cases of Covid-19 from 9,424 samples tested in the last 24 hours. In a press statement to newsrooms on Friday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the country’s positivity rate is now at 9.9 percent, down from 13.9 per cent recorded on Thursday From the new cases, 909 are Kenyans while 23 are foreigners. 473 males while 459 are females. Three police reservists have been arrested for the alleged murder of two people on June 21, 2021, in Elwak area, Mandera County. Ali Abdi Ali, Mohamed Ibrahim Issack and Ahmed Mohamed Abdilatif from the National Police Reserve (NPR) were arrested by Elwak-based detectives on Thursday. The number of Covid-19 infections recorded in Kenya has risen to 232,869  after 817 more people tested positive in the last 24 hours. In a statement to newsrooms on Thursday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the cases are from a sample size of 6,350. Cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,342,816. The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Secretariat has announced plans to appeal a verdict by the Court of Appeal that its push to amend the constitution was unconstitutional. In a judgment delivered last Friday, the Appellate Court upheld a decision by the High Court that the BBI process was flawed and unlawful. A police sergeant was on Thursday, August 26 charged with murder over the fatal shooting of a Form Two Student, Tony Katana, in Mombasa in 2016. Sergeant John Otieno, who was attached to Nyali police station at the time of the incident, was arraigned at the Mombasa High Court. A 27-year-old man has been arrested for the alleged murder of his colleague at a construction site in Kabete area, Kiambu County. The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has launched investigations into an incident where a man was allegedly shot dead by police in Kahawa West, Nairobi, in demonstrations witnessed on Wednesday morning. The family of the slain Kianjokoma brothers has been hit by another tragedy just two weeks after they buried the two. President Uhuru Kenyatta has suspended Environment and Land Court judge Mary Muthoni Gitumbi on grounds of mental incapacity. The Head of State took action following recommendations by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
