An American man linked to the US Capitol insurrection in January has been arrested in New York after being deported from Kenya. Isaac Sturgeon, 32, was nabbed by Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) detectives at the John F. Kennedy International Airport on Saturday afternoon. Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga has criticized the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) over recent summons linked to March 4 by-election chaos. The MP is among 10 leaders who were summoned on Saturday by the commission on allegations of fueling political violence during the Thursday by-elections in Matungu and Kabuchai Constituencies. Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has moved to court in an attempt to block the state from confiscating his firearm. Barasa was among lawmakers, who were last week directed by the Firearm Licensing Board to surrender their firearms, over alleged involvement in the March 4 by-election chaos. The lawmaker said he received the directive to surrender both his license and firearm within 24 hours on March 5 without being given any reason. St. Joseph’s Boys Kitale fraternity is mourning the death of their Principal Wilson T. Yego. According to Yego’s family, the deceased passed on over the weekend at the Mediheal Hospital in Eldoret where he was receiving treatment for Covid-19. Yego previously served as Principal at St. Patrick’s Boys Iten before his transfer to St. Joseph’s Boys Kitale in 2017, a reshuffle that affected 557 school heads. Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has proposed that Kamiti Maximum Prison and the Langa’ta Women’s Prison be moved from Kenya’s capital, Nairobi. The CS, who was speaking during the launch of the National Land Commission’s 2021/2026 strategic plan on Friday in Nairobi, suggested that the correctional facilities be moved to Bomet or Kitale. 465 more people have tested positive for Covid-19, raising the number of confirmed cases in the country to 108,827. In a statement to newsrooms on Sunday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the cases are from 5,691 samples that were tested in the last 24 hours. Cumulative tests conducted so far stand at 1,333,690. From the 465 new cases, 422 are Kenyans while 43 are foreigners with 279 being males and 186 being females.
