Fish from Lake Nakuru is unfit for human consumption. This is according to a report released by the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KEMFRI) on Tuesday. Studies conducted by KEMRI revealed that Tilapia and other fish from the lake were rotting within three hours after being caught. Consumers interviewed, KEMRI said, also complained of skin rashes. The research institute concluded that consumption of fish from the water body will have serious health effects on consumers. A total of 1.14 million signatures supporting the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2020, have been verified by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), the commission announced on Tuesday. Kenyan national Mansur Mohammed alias Mansour has been extradited to the United States months after he was nabbed in Mombasa for ivory, rhinoceros horns and drug trafficking. Audrey Strauss, US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced on Monday that Mansour, 60, arrived in the US on Monday morning. Police in Embu are holding 10 students accused of torching a dormitory at Kiambere Secondary School. According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), nine students from the school were taken into custody after the main suspect linked them to the Sunday incident. Ugandan opposition politician Bobi Wine and his wife Barbara Itungo are still under house arrest hours after the High Court declared their continued detention illegal. The High Court in Uganda has ordered army and police officers surrounding opposition politician Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine’s home to leave. In a ruling delivered on Monday, the court declared the continued detention of  Wine and his wife unlawful and unconstitutional. The popstar-turned-politicians and member of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party has been under house arrest since Uganda went to the polls on January 14, 2021. Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has been charged with an additional charge of assault in a case in which he had been charged with malicious destruction of property and incitement over the uprooting of tea bushes at Kibwari estate in 2019. Police in Nairobi are holding a suspected terrorist busted taking photos of Makongeni Police Station located in Makadara Sub-county, Nairobi. In a police report seen by this writer, the suspect identified as Augustine Juma, 34, was arrested on Saturday morning after being spotted taking photos of Makongeni Police motor vehicle registration number GK A 318. Four more patients have succumbed to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, raising Kenya’s cumulative fatalities to 1,744. At the same time, 85 more people have tested positive for the virus, out of a sample size of 2,985 tested in the same period. Chesamisi Boys High School in Bungoma County has been closed indefinitely following student riots last night. The students, who were protesting changes in the institution’s entertainment programme, destroyed property of unknown value during the Saturday 11pm strike. A computer lab and two vehicles, one of which belonged to the school principal, were destroyed during the incident.
