Former county assembly speaker Beatrice Elachi has filed contempt of court proceedings against the county assembly.

She said that they failed to follow a court order and proceeded to remove her from office. The members of the county assembly replaced her with Ngara MCA Chege Mwaura.

On September 6, 103 MCAs voted to remove her from office, two voted against while two others abstained.

She was also accused of making payments of Sh550,000 from the public coffers for a suspicious “Dubai Leadership Summit”. She is also said to have traveled to Dubai using public resources to receive a “fake Honorary Doctorate Degree” from the “London Graduate School.”

She later on moved to the Employment and Labour Relations Court that suspended her impeachment. The MCAs then tried to physically eject the embattled speaker from her office on September 10.
