Billy Harris is a British professional tennis player born on 25 January 1995 in Nottingham, England.
He grew up on the Isle of Man after his family moved there when he was young and continues to reside there.
Coached primarily by his father Geoff Harris, with additional support at times from others including Colin Beecher and Leon Smith, he turned professional in 2015.
Harris trains at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton and is known for a determined, hard-working approach that included years of travelling to lower-level tournaments while living out of a van to cut costs.
He is a fan of Nottingham Forest and enjoys golf and darts in his free time.
Siblings
Billy’s parents are Geoff and Abigail Harris, with Geoff introducing the children to sports from a young age and serving as Billy’s coach and travel companion.
Billy has two brothers and one sister.
Tom is the eldest sibling and a talented golfer who represented England at under-21 level and won gold in golf at the 2015 Island Games in Jersey.
Joe, the middle brother, is a javelin thrower who has ranked among Britain’s top performers in the event, competed at the Commonwealth Games, and won gold in the javelin at the 2023 Island Games in Guernsey.
Katie, the youngest, has also competed successfully, claiming gold in the women’s team event at the 2017 Island Games in Gotland.

Career
Harris began playing tennis regularly at clubs such as Castletown and Albany on the Isle of Man.
He spent time training at Bisham Abbey as a junior before returning to complete his schooling.
His professional path was gradual and demanding.
In his early years on the ITF circuit, he spent roughly three and a half years travelling Europe in a converted van that contained a bed and stringing machine, cooking simple meals roadside to keep expenses low.
He collected multiple ITF titles in singles and doubles while steadily climbing the rankings.
Progress accelerated in the early 2020s with Challenger-level results, including a doubles title.
In 2023 he recorded his first ATP Tour main-draw win.
The following seasons brought further breakthroughs, including a wild-card run to the quarter-finals at the Queen’s Club Championships, Grand Slam qualifying appearances and main-draw entries.
He notably reached the second round at Wimbledon in 2025 and has represented Great Britain in the Davis Cup.
He has also competed for the Isle of Man at the Island Games, winning multiple gold medals in singles, doubles and team events.
Accolades
Harris reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 101 on 9 September 2024 and a doubles high of No. 265.
He has won one ATP Challenger singles title in Cassis and one Challenger doubles title, along with several ITF singles and doubles titles.
At the Island Games, he secured gold medals in men’s singles and mixed doubles in Bermuda in 2013, men’s singles and team events in Jersey in 2015, and earlier team success.
He has represented Great Britain in Davis Cup ties and made history for Manx tennis with his first Grand Slam main-draw victory at Wimbledon.
Additional recognition includes induction into the Isle of Man Sport Hall of Fame and the Ambassador of the Year award at the Isle of Man Sports Awards.
