Brenden Russell Aaronson is an American professional soccer player who plays as an attacking midfielder or winger for Premier League club Leeds United and the United States national team.
Born on October 22, 2000, in Medford, New Jersey, he stands at 5’10” and is known for his high work rate, technical ability, vision, and versatility across attacking positions.
Aaronson rose through the Philadelphia Union academy system and has established himself as one of the key talents in U.S. soccer, representing his country at multiple major tournaments including the FIFA World Cup.
Siblings
Brenden comes from a soccer-oriented family with two notable siblings.
His younger brother, Paxten Aaronson, is also a professional soccer player who has featured for the U.S. national team alongside Brenden.
The brothers trained together from a young age in their family basement, nicknamed “The Dungeon”, and have shared the pitch for the USMNT, marking a historic family milestone.
Their younger sister, Jaden Aaronson (born in 2006), is a promising youth player who has shown strong potential in the sport as well.

Career
Aaronson joined the Philadelphia Union youth setup at age 10 and progressed through the YSC Academy.
He signed a Homegrown Player contract with the Union and made his MLS debut in 2019, scoring on his first appearance.
He quickly became a key contributor, helping the team challenge for honors and earning recognition as one of MLS’s top young talents.
In January 2021, he transferred to Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, where he gained European experience, competed in the UEFA Champions League, and won domestic titles.
In 2022, he moved to Leeds United in the Premier League.
After a loan spell at Union Berlin in the Bundesliga during the 2023-24 season, he returned to Leeds and played a significant role in their promotion back to the Premier League via the Championship.
Aaronson has been a regular for the USMNT since his senior debut, participating in World Cups and winning multiple CONCACAF Nations League titles.
Accolades
With Red Bull Salzburg, Aaronson won the Austrian Bundesliga and Austrian Cup in back-to-back seasons (2020-21 and 2021-22).
At Leeds United, he contributed to the EFL Championship title win that secured promotion.
With the United States national team, he has won the CONCACAF Nations League in 2020, 2023, and 2024, and reached the final of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Individually, he earned a spot in the MLS is Back Tournament Best XI in 2020 and has been praised for his consistent performances across Europe.
