Serie A has slapped Douglas Costa with a four-match suspension for spitting on Sassuolo’s Federico Di Francesco.

The Brazilian who came in as a second half substitute and revived Juventus games was sent off in the dying minutes of the game when VAR review showed he had spat on Sassuolo’s man.

Serie A discipline authority charged him with violent conduct following an attempted head butt, an elbow and for spitting on Di Francesco.

The Brazilian had earlier penned an apology to The Old Lady fans but not to Di Francesco.

Among the games he will miss are Frosinone, Bologna, Napoli and Udinese.
