    David Olatukunbo Alaba is a renowned Austrian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for La Liga club Real Madrid and captains the Austria national team.

    Born on June 24, 1992, in Vienna, Austria, to a Nigerian father, George Alaba, and a Filipino mother, Gina Alaba, he grew up in a multicultural household that blended influences from various cultures, languages, music, and fashion.

    David has one sibling, his younger sister Rose May Alaba, born on May 26, 1994, in Vienna.

    Like her brother, Rose grew up in the Austrian capital with their Filipino mother and Nigerian father.

    She has pursued a successful career as a singer, songwriter, and recording artist, gaining recognition for her music in both Austria and Nigeria.

    Alaba’s football journey began in the youth ranks of local Austrian clubs before he joined Bayern Munich’s academy in 2008 at the age of 15.

    He made his senior debut for the German giants in 2010 and quickly established himself as a key player, showcasing remarkable versatility by excelling as a left-back, central defender, and even in midfield.

    Over more than a decade at Bayern, he became a cornerstone of the team’s dominance, contributing to numerous domestic and European successes.

    In 2021, he transferred to Real Madrid, where he continued his winning ways by helping the club secure major trophies in his debut season.

    Internationally, Alaba has represented Austria since 2009, earning over 110 caps and captaining the national team at major tournaments such as the UEFA European Championships.

    Accolades

    With Bayern Munich, Alaba won ten Bundesliga titles, multiple DFB-Pokal cups, DFL-Supercups, two UEFA Champions League titles (as part of trebles), UEFA Super Cups, and FIFA Club World Cups.

    At Real Madrid, he added La Liga titles, a Copa del Rey, Supercopa de España wins, additional Champions League triumphs, and more international club honors to his tally.

    Individually, Alaba has been named Austrian Footballer of the Year a record ten times.

    He has also earned selections to the UEFA Team of the Year on multiple occasions.
