Popular Gospel disc jokey, Jackson Kamau aka DJ Soxxy was on the receiving end over the weekend after he dressed up like Sauti Sol’s popular dancer, Agnes Kiunga, famously known as Aggie the Dancer, for the boy band’s new hit song ‘Short N’ Sweet.’

Most Christians considered this to be secularism of the Gospel industry since it is not “expected” that Christians would be familiar with the secular song.

Soxxy received a lot of backlash on his Instagram post when he posted an image of himself and the popular dancer, stating how he finally learnt the dance moves.

Firstly, people questioned why he was dressed as a female and secondly, why he was sharing a stage with a secular dancer.

“What a disappointment. Is a secular world and award show. Jesus must have been sad looking down at everything going on. Nothing glorified God or brought him honour. The devil was surely happy. Search your heart brother, do not allow yourself to be yoked together with such people in such a manner. I’m sure the Spirit told you it’s not right but ignored and went ahead…. It’s not about pleasing man, but God. I’ve really sad,” wrote one user

“U didn’t do well. Just another hypocrite… And you need to decide anyway this explain a lot,” wrote another user.

The DJ defended himself saying that he consulted with his pastor before pulling the stunt citing that it was a well thought out plan and not an “in the moment” thing.

“I actually consulted a number of pastors for advice before i did this stint. I don’t just get up on stage and do without soul searching. Either way Thank you for the feedback. Much appreciated. Baraka,” responded the DJ.

One user advised the DJ to seek the Holy Spirit and not his pastors.

“Next time consult The Holy Spirit, Our Helper, not pastors… Come to think of it, why justify your actions by consulting pastors? Hata hao pastors wako are questionable. Nothing glorified God at all,” another user lamented.
