A Kenyan gay couple has reportedly escaped the country after being the first such couple to openly marry in kenya. Lutheran pastor Edwin Sikot and his boyfriend Isaiah are said to be living in a cave after marrying in February. The couple are now looking for asylum in Zanzibar which they say is safer for them.
Edwin is a 37-year-old pastor in the Lutheran church, and Isaiah, a 25-year-old laborer. The couple first met through Facebook through a mutual friend. They chatted for three years and then decided to meet last year.
‘In Kenya, meeting somebody is not easy. But when I met him, it was like my dream, it was the person I was looking for,’ Edwin told Gay Star News.
They entered into a long distance relationship, with Edwin preaching in Tanzania and Isaiah at home in Mombasa, Kenya.
