    Governor Mike Sonko Announces Public Participation For Fiscal Strategy Paper

    The County Government of Nairobi has called on the public to participate on the drafting of the County Fiscal Strategy Paper 2019.

    In a public announcement, the Mike Sonko led government urged the public to come out and give their views on the fiscal paper.

    “This is therefore to invite members of the Public, Civil Society Organizations, Faith Based Organizations and the Private Sector practitioners to participate in the process,” reads the notice.

    This announcement is in accordance to the provisions of article 220(2) of the Constitution of Kenya as read together with section 117(1)-(5) of the Public Finance Management Act, 2012, that calls for the County to formulate the Fiscal Strategy.

    The County went ahead to highlight consultative forums which they have scheduled in the seventeen (17) sub-counties and the venues they will take place in.

    The venues of the forums are as follows: Dagorretti North constituents are to assemble at Muslim Primary School Hall whereas their counterparts in Dagorretti South are to meet in Waithaka Social Hall.

    Those in Embakasi Central are to meet in Kayole II Social Hall, those in Embakasi North in Dandora III Social Hall, Embakasi South residents are to convene at Mukuru Health Center (Imara Daima), while those in Embakasi East will meet at Embakasi Social Hall and those in Embakasi West have been scheduled to meet at the Sub-county Administration Office Grounds – Umoja I.

    Makadara constituents are to have their voices heard in Jericho Social while those in Ruaraka in Ruaraka Resource Center – CDF Office.

    Roysambu members will meet at Kahawa West Market Parking Area, and those in Kasarani will do so in Maji Mazuri Grounds.

    Eastleigh North Social Hall has been reserved for Kamukunji constituents while Karen Social Hall for members of the public from Lang’ata.

    Those in Mathare are to meet at Undugu Social Hall Mabatini Ward, as their counterparts in Kibra in Joseph Kang’ethe Social Hall (Woodley Ground).

    Westlands constituents are set to convene at Parklands Day Nursery School whereas their Starehe fellows meet at Kariokor Social Hall.

    The notice noted: “A draft of the proposed Fiscal Policy Paper may be obtained from the office of the Director-Economic Planning, City Hall Treasury 4th floor Room 404 or may be downloaded from the Nairobi County Assembly  website at: www.nairobiassembly.go.ke for references.”

    The meetings are to take place on Monday 11th February 2019 and a validation forum on Friday 15th February 2019.
