Police are looking for a gang that shot and injured a rider in an attack in Migori Town.

The motive of the shooting was not immediately established, police said of the Tuesday September 23, 2025 night incident.

The rider said he was headed home at about 11 pm when he was trailed by the gunmen on a motorcycle.

As he approached his gate, he heard gunshots and later felt pain on his back before he fell on the roadside, he told police.

It was then he realized he had been shot and wounded as the assailants escaped the scene.

He was rushed to a local hospital and admitted in stable condition.

Police said the victim identified as Elmas Ogweno, 43 was shot in the lower back. He also had an injury on the forehead.

A team of detectives is investigating the attack, police said.

In Tala, Machakos County, police said they are looking for a gang that raided a bar and stole a tone keg pump, alcoholic drinks of unknown value and cash.

The gang was armed with a G3 rifle and shot to the air three times as they escaped the scene on Saturday night, police and the witnesses said.

The gang went to the Emali Inn bar and restaurant and grabbed the valuables before escaping.

Police officers visited the scene, confirmed the incident and recovered three spent cartridges believed to be of a G3 rifle.

The locals are calling for action to address the cases of robberies that are on the rise in the area.

Elsewhere in Laikipia’s Olmoran area, police and the local security officials recovered an AK47 rifle with 12 bullets from two suspects who had been arrested in an operation.

The juveniles were part of a group of suspected bandits who had been spotted in the area prompting an operation that led to their arrest.

Police said they were looking for more suspects in the drama amid fears the gunmen were planning to stage an attack on the farms there for animals.
