    Early Life

Dizzy Reed was born in June 1963 in Hinsdale, Illinois. His musical journey began early—his grandmother taught him how to play the organ, and by the time he was still in elementary school, Reed was already performing in local bands.

As a young adult, he relocated to Los Angeles, California, where he immersed himself in the city’s vibrant rock scene. He went on to help form the band The Wild, which would prove to be a turning point in his career.

    Joining Guns N’ Roses

While rehearsing with The Wild in a studio neighboring Guns N’ Roses, Reed met Axl Rose, who was impressed by his musicianship. In 1990, Rose invited Reed to join Guns N’ Roses, just as the band was preparing for one of the most ambitious periods in its history.

Reed officially joined ahead of the Use Your Illusion era, becoming a core member during the band’s creative peak.
