Open Your Word Document
Start by opening the Microsoft Word document you want to edit.
Review the existing page numbers to determine what changes you want to make.

- Review the current page numbers
- Decide on the changes you need

Open the Page Number Settings
Double-click the header or footer where the page number appears.
This opens the Header & Footer editing tools, allowing you to modify the page numbering.
- Double-click the header or footer
- Open Header & Footer tools
- Access the page number options

Change the Page Number Format
Click Page Number, then select Format Page Numbers.
From here, you can choose a different numbering style, such as Arabic numbers, Roman numerals, or letters.
You can also choose the page number you want the document to start with.
- Select Format Page Numbers
- Choose a numbering style
- Set the starting page number

Change Where Page Numbers Appear
If you want to move the page numbers, click Page Number and choose a different position.
You can place page numbers at the top, bottom, margins, or current position on the page.
- Select a new page number position
- Choose the preferred layout
- Apply the changes

Save and Review the Document
After making your changes, close the Header & Footer editing mode.
Scroll through the document to ensure the page numbers appear correctly and follow the desired sequence.
Save the document once you are satisfied with the results.
- Close Header & Footer editing
- Review all page numbers
- Save the document
