The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has advertised temporary job opportunities ahead of the Ol Kalou Constituency by-election scheduled for July 16, 2026.

The positions include Presiding Officers, Deputy Presiding Officers, Polling and Counting Clerks, Support Electoral Trainers (SETs), and Voter Educators.

According to the commission, Presiding Officers will earn Sh2,000 per day, while Deputy Presiding Officers will be paid Sh1,800 per day. Constituency Voter Educators and Support Electoral Trainers will each earn Sh2,000 per day, while Clerks will receive Sh1,000 per day.

Applications are being submitted through the IEBC recruitment portal at https://jobs.iebc.or.ke, with the deadline set for Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

The electoral body also announced that the registration and nomination of candidates for the Member of National Assembly seat will be conducted on May 25 and 26, 2026, at the PCEA Hall in Ol Kalou.

The commission said the exercise is part of preparations for the upcoming by-election, which has already attracted significant political interest as parties position themselves to capture the seat.

In the political race, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has fielded Samuel Muchina Nyagah as its candidate after he secured the party nomination with 3,221 votes, narrowly beating his closest rival, George Wambugu Kanuri, who garnered 3,077 votes.

The Democracy for Citizens (DCP) party has settled on Kamau Ngotho, who secured 12,957 votes in the party primaries to clinch the ticket.

Meanwhile, the Jubilee Party has nominated Wilson Kigwa as its flagbearer. Kigwa will seek to defend the seat previously held by the party.
