Jella Veit is a German professional footballer born on 3 May 2005 in Bönningstedt, near Hamburg in Schleswig-Holstein.
Coming from a family with a strong swimming background, she initially competed in swimming and was once the fastest German in the 50-metre butterfly in her youth age group.
She later switched fully to football, beginning at local club SV Rugenbergen where she often played as the only girl on boys’ teams and at older age groups.
Veit currently plays for Frauen-Bundesliga side 1. FC Union Berlin and has earned a senior cap for the Germany national team.
Siblings
Jella has one known sibling, a brother named Jan.
Her parents are Angela Jörns-Veit and Mark Veit, both former competitive swimmers.
Veit has spoken about growing up in this environment, balancing early swimming commitments with football before choosing the latter as her path.
Career
Veit started her football journey at SV Rugenbergen. From the age of 14, she also featured for Hamburger SV’s youth sides under a dual registration.
In the summer of 2021, she moved to Eintracht Frankfurt.
She initially featured for the second team in the 2. Frauen-Bundesliga, where she made more than 50 appearances and scored once while also captaining the side at times.

She signed her first professional contract with Frankfurt in 2023. She made her Frauen-Bundesliga debut that September against SGS Essen.
Over the following seasons, she gained experience in the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and European competitions, including the UEFA Women’s Champions League and Women’s Europa Cup.
After establishing herself more regularly in the first team during the 2025-26 season, she left Frankfurt upon the expiry of her contract.
She joined 1. FC Union Berlin in June 2026 on a one-year deal.
Internationally, she progressed through Germany’s youth ranks, representing the U15, U17, U19, U20 and U23 teams.
She captained the U17 side that won the 2022 UEFA Women’s Under-17 Championship.
She played every match during the tournament and converted a penalty in the final shoot-out victory over Spain.
She also reached the final of the 2023 UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship, finishing as runners-up. She competed at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
In February 2026, she received her first senior call-up as a replacement for the injured Sophia Kleinherne.
She made her Germany debut as a substitute in a 4-0 World Cup qualifying win over Norway in March 2026.
Accolades
Veit’s individual and team achievements include the 2022 UEFA Women’s Under-17 Championship title with Germany.
She also won a runners-up medal at the 2023 UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship. She received the Fritz Walter Medal in gold in the U17 category in 2022.
She later received the bronze medal in the U19 category in 2024.
