Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah has been referred to the police by his club over an incident in which he was reportedly filmed driving while using his mobile phone.
Merseyside police admitted that they had been “made aware of a video believed to show the footballer using a mobile phone whilst driving.”
They added that “this has been passed to the relevant department.”
Liverpool’s spokesperson said they had alerted the police after discussions with Mohamed Salah.
They said that any follow-up action on the Egypt international would be dealt with “internally.”

“The club, after discussion with the player, have made Merseyside Police aware of the footage and the circumstances surrounding its capture.”
Salah, who on the mark for the Reds on Sunday in Premier League, is seen in the video using his phone while behind the wheel with the car surrounded by fans, including children.
