Lucy Kay Hamilton is an Australian cricketer born on 8 May 2006 in Bundaberg, Queensland.
She is a left-handed batter and left-arm fast bowler who plays as an all-rounder.
Growing up in a regional area of Queensland, she developed her skills playing grade cricket for clubs including the Sunshine Coast Scorchers and Across the Waves, often in boys’ teams due to limited opportunities for girls at the time.
Her family background in sport helped shape her early passion for cricket, and she balanced her rising athletic commitments with schooling, including time at Shalom College in Bundaberg.
Siblings
Lucy has a brother named Will, who is approximately 18 months older than her.
The siblings grew up playing cricket together in Bundaberg, with Lucy frequently joining Will’s age-group teams (under-12s through under-16s) and sharing coaching sessions.
She has described playing alongside her brother and his friends as a formative experience that fostered her love of the game and built strong connections within the local cricket community.
Career
Hamilton made her domestic debut for Queensland in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) on 15 March 2022 at the age of 15, becoming the second-youngest debutant in the side’s history.

She took two wickets in that match against Western Australia.
She progressed to the Brisbane Heat in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), where she later recorded historic figures of 5 for 8, the youngest player to claim a five-wicket haul in the competition’s history.
In 2026 she featured for Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
On the international stage she represented Australia at Under-19 level, including the 2023 ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, where she took five wickets, and later captained the side.
She earned senior call-ups in 2026, making her ODI debut against India on 1 March, her Test debut (cap 186) against India on 6 March, and her T20I debut against West Indies on 23 March.
She has since featured in further limited-overs matches for Australia.
Accolades
Hamilton became the youngest player to take a five-wicket haul in WBBL history with her 5 for 8 performance.
At Under-19 level she contributed strongly in the 2023 World Cup and later captained Australia in the tournament.
In 2026 she was part of the Australian side that won the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England and Wales, and she also reached the WPL final as a runner-up with Delhi Capitals.
