    Career

Barraza’s soccer journey began in the Real Salt Lake-Arizona academy, where he developed his skills as a goalkeeper and achieved notable success at the youth level, including winning the U-15/U-16 USSDA Championship in 2013.

He went on to play college soccer at Marquette University from 2015 to 2018, where he started 53 games and earned several honors.

In the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, New York City FC selected him 12th overall, marking one of the higher draft positions for a Marquette player.

He signed with NYCFC and made his professional debut in 2020 in a CONCACAF Champions League match.

Over several seasons with NYCFC, Barraza served as a backup and occasional starter, gaining valuable experience and contributing to the team’s success, including their 2022 Campeones Cup victory.

He later moved to D.C. United before joining Inter Miami CF.

Known for his composure and shot-stopping ability, he has also recorded a rare goalkeeper assist in MLS.

    Accolades

At Marquette, Barraza was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year in 2018 and earned All-BIG EAST First Team honors that same year.

He also received multiple conference weekly awards and national team of the week nods for standout performances, including key penalty saves in tournament play.

At the professional level, he earned Man of the Match honors for his role in NYCFC’s 2022 Campeones Cup triumph.

Barraza has been part of teams that competed in CONCACAF competitions and has steadily built a solid MLS resume across multiple clubs.
