A man who was brutally attacked during a motorcycle robbery in Seme Sub-County, Kisumu County, has died while receiving treatment, police have confirmed.

According to police, the incident occurred in the early hours of January 1, 2026, at around 1:00 a.m.

The deceased, identified as Brian Omondi, was riding with another man as they escorted their brother-in-law, from South Alungo to Omore Village aboard a red Boxer 125 motorcycle.

Police said that upon reaching the Okode area, the trio was ambushed by three unidentified men armed with a metal rod and a panga. The attackers assaulted the victims before robbing them of the motorcycle.

Brian sustained serious injuries during the attack and was rushed to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries on June 2 while undergoing medical care.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination, while investigations have been launched to identify and apprehend the suspects behind the fatal robbery.

No arrests had been reported by the time of filing the police report.

Elsewhwere, police in Rachuonyo South Sub-County, Homa Bay County, have launched a manhunt for a 42-year-old man suspected of murdering his wife following a domestic dispute.

The victim, identified as Lavenda Omondi, 25, was found dead in her bedroom at Kogudi Village.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Lavenda was allegedly killed by her husband following domestic disagreements.

According to investigators, the suspect fled after the incident but reportedly left behind a handwritten note in the Luo language in which he allegedly admitted to killing his wife over claims related to a love affair.

The deceased’s body was found with visible injuries to the neck, raising suspicions that she may have been strangled or otherwise assaulted.

The body was moved to Rachuonyo Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.

Police have launched a search for the suspect, who remains at large, as investigations into the suspected domestic homicide continue.
