A man was hacked to death as he tried to solve marital differences at a home in Uriri, Migori County.

Police said the man died in hospital in Eldoret on March 23 after he had sustained serious head injuries in the attack in Dago village.

Daniel Juma Adie had visited his in-laws to solve domestic differences his sister had with the husband.

Police said at the tail end of the meeting, an argument arose that saw Adie being attacked. He sustained serious head injuries before being rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries while being attended to, police said.

His sister was also injured but was out of danger, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Police said they were looking for the known assailant for grilling and possible arraignment. Such incidents have been on the rise in villages amid efforts to address them.

Meanwhile, a crocodile attacked and killed a woman in Usenge, Bondo, Siaya County.

Police said Lucy Ouma, 35 was missing after she was attacked and dragged into the water by the crocodile in Yala River.

The river empties to Lake Victoria in the area.

Locals tried to search and rescue her in vain. Kenya Wildlife Service rangers visited the scene and announced they were investigating the same.

The search continued on Wednesday with hopes of finding the remains, police said.

Such incidents are common in the area amid calls on KWS to take action and address them. Dozens of villagers are annually killed in crocodile attacks in the area.

The rivers in the area also have hippopotamus who attack and kill many.

Officials describe the incidents as human-wildlife conflict amid campaigns to ensure safe co-existence.

Kenya had launched a compensation scheme for such incidents as part of efforts to address animosity towards wild animals.
