Police in Nakuru County have launched investigations into the mysterious death of a 28-year-old man whose body was found in a field in Kabatini Ward.

The deceased, identified as Joseph Kagera, was discovered lying lifeless near the Shembe area in Wendo, Kabatini Ward, within Nakuru North Sub-County.

According to police, the incident was reported after the victim’s father received information from members of the public that his son had been found dead in a nearby field.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the body had no visible injuries and the cause of death could not immediately be established.

A relative told investigators that she last saw Kagera on Saturday at about 5am when he left home in search of casual employment at Karunga Centre.

The body was moved to Annex Mortuary pending a postmortem examination that is expected to establish the cause of death.

Police said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing.

Elsewhere, police in Elgeyo Marakwet County are investigating the sudden death of a 33-year-old man who collapsed and died shortly after taking an alcoholic drink at a bar in Keiyo North Sub-County.

The deceased, identified as Haji Kipruto Kipchumba, reportedly arrived at a drinking establishment in Kapteren on Sunday afternoon appearing intoxicated before ordering a 250ml bottle of Chrome Vodka spirit.

According to police the man consumed about two sips of the drink before falling asleep on his chair.

After noticing that he was not waking up, an attendant and other customers attempted to rouse him but found him unresponsive. He was rushed to Kapteren Health Centre, where medical personnel pronounced him dead on arrival.

Police officers visited the scene and collected the glass and remaining liquor as exhibits for forensic analysis.

Authorities said the body bore no visible physical injuries.

The deceased’s body was moved to Iten County Referral Hospital Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
