    Marsabit Leaders Oppose Yattani’s Cabinet Nomination, Say He Is Toxic And Corrupt

    The Marsabit county leadership has opposed the nomination of Ukur Yattani to the cabinet as CS. They claim that the ambassadors political career is a demonstration of contempt to the Rule of law.

    The county leadership has accused ambassador Yattani of promoting politics that thrives on division and exclusion which they have said is toxic to Kenya’s national integration and cohesion.

    According to the leaders Ukur Yattani is under investigation by the Ethics and Anti corruption commision (EACC) on allegations of abuse of office, corruption and misappropriation of funds.

    They have said that his nomination and appointment would amount to a celebration of impunity and divisive politics. They have said that the nominating authority did not consider the interests of the people of Marsabit county while nominating the Ambassador as the cabinet secretary.

    They have vowed to take any legal action that is available to them to oppose the nomination as Ukur Yattani should not benefit in the name of Marsabit County.

    The leaders who oppose the nomination include:

    H.E Hon. Mohamud Mohamed – Governor, Hon Eng. Godana Hargura – Senator,
    Hon Rev Canon Naomi Wako – Nominated senator, Hon Safia Sheikh Adan – Women Rep, Hon Dido Rasso – MP, Saku Constituency, Hon Musa Arbele – MP,  Laisamis Constituency
    Hon Qalicha Gufu – MP, Moyale Constituency. Hon Mathew Loltome – Speaker,
    Hon Halkano Konso – Majority Leader.
