Police are investigating the discovery of the body of a man who had been reported missing in Witethie, Juja, Kiambu County.

Police said the body was floating along River Ndarugo at Ndarugo village within Nyacaba when it was found on May 5.

The deceased was later identified by his father as John Mutengi Kahuro, a 26-years-old male adult who was employed as a security guard at Benvar Estate Security company.

Preliminary investigations established that the deceased had gone missing on Sunday, May 3, 2026, while on guard duty in Kiahuria.

The disappearance had earlier been reported at Witeithie Police Station.

The motive of the incident could not be established, police said.

The body was found with a bitten tongue but no other visible external injuries.

Scene processing was conducted, and the body was removed to General Kago Mortuary for preservation and Autopsy examination.

And police in Nairobi have launched investigations after a homemade firearm and ammunition were recovered in Buruburu Estate.

The incident was reported on May 6, 2026, at around 2:10 p.m., when a resident stumbled upon a suspicious handbag while disposing of garbage outside her rental unit on the fourth floor of an apartment.

Upon inspection, the woman discovered a black metallic object resembling a pistol inside the bag and promptly alerted authorities.

Police responded to the scene and confirmed that the item was a homemade pistol capable of firing. The weapon was found loaded with one round of 9mm ammunition.

Further search at the scene led to the recovery of two additional rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers processed and documented the scene, and the firearm along with the ammunition were secured as exhibits.

No arrests have been made so far, and investigations are ongoing to establish the source of the weapon and how it ended up at the location.
