The body of a man who had been reported missing was recovered from River Ngong in the Kingston area of Nairobi on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Jayson Takim Maina, whose disappearance had been reported at Lungalunga Police Station on August 26, 2026.

According to police, the body was spotted floating in the river on Friday, prompting members of the public to retrieve it from the water.

The officers established that the body belonged to Maina, who had been listed as a missing person two days earlier.

The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to the City Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.

Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding Maina’s disappearance and death are ongoing.

Elsewhere, police in Nairobi are investigating the death of a man who succumbed to head injuries several days after he was allegedly attacked by people known to him in Kariokor.

The deceased, Kennedy Otieno Ogonda, was allegedly hit several times on the head with blunt objects on August 22, 2026, within Kariokor.

His wife, a resident of Dandora Phase 4, reported the incident.

According to the report, Ogonda sustained serious head injuries during the alleged assault and was rushed to Brother Andre Hospital in Dandora, where he was admitted for treatment.

His condition later deteriorated, prompting his transfer to Kenyatta National Hospital on August 24.

He subsequently died while undergoing treatment at the facility.

The identities of the alleged attackers and the motive for the assault had not been established by the time of reporting.
