The Ministry of Health will celebrate World Oral Health Day on March 20, 2025, by offering free dental check-ups in various settings, including community health camps, schools, churches, and healthcare facilities.

Director General for Health Patrick Amoth said on Wednesday that the ministry will also conduct public awareness campaigns and collaborate with mental health professionals to hold webinars and educational forums.

Additionally, oral disease screening will be carried out as part of the efforts to promote oral health.

The government, with support from partners, will provide mobile dental treatment and outreach programs offering curative services for individuals experiencing pain and life-threatening infections.

Essential oral health products such as toothbrushes, dental floss, and mouthwash will also be distributed.

“We encourage communities, healthcare providers, and stakeholders to support this initiative by participating in World Oral Health Day activities and spreading awareness about the importance of oral health,” Amoth said.

The national celebrations will take place at Ndukulu Primary and Junior Secondary School in Makueni County under the theme “A Happy Mouth is a Happy Mind.” The event aims to highlight the connection between oral health, mental well-being, and overall quality of life.

The Kenya National Oral Health Policy (2022-2025) and the Kenya National Oral Health Strategic Plan (2022-2026) provide a framework for preventive measures, early intervention strategies, and community-based initiatives to improve oral health across the country.
