The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) on Monday extended Seefar Apartments demolition notice from 14 to 30 days.
Edermann Property on Friday received a notice of demolition from NeMa and Water Resources Management Authority (WARMA) noting that the 12 storey building in Nairobi’s Nyayo Highrise estate sat on riparian land that the government is seeking to secure.
But the property management argued that the water resources agency approved the boundary for the construction works and that the building is 22 metres from the dam.
The management was invited to a meeting at the Nema offices in the company of a legal advisor. It is here that the authority resolved to organize a joint inspection.

“Please note, the order [to demolition the building] still holds, but however, it is extended to 30 days to allow consultation and investigation to guide the authorities decision,” read the statement signed by David Ongare.
