    Siblings

Noah grew up in Norwood, Massachusetts, as the oldest of three children.

He has two younger siblings: a brother named Cole Hanifin and a sister named Lily Hanifin.

The family faced challenges together when their father, Bob, battled cancer during Noah’s teenage years.

During that time, Noah stepped up to help support his mother, Tina, and his younger siblings.

    Career

Hanifin developed his skills at St. Sebastian’s School in Needham, Massachusetts, before spending a season with the U.S. National Team Development Program.

He then played one standout season at Boston College in 2014-15, where he recorded 23 points in 37 games and earned several conference honors.

After being drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes, he made his NHL debut in the 2015-16 season and quickly established himself as a reliable defenseman.

He spent three seasons with the Hurricanes before a major trade sent him to the Calgary Flames in 2018.

In Calgary, he continued to mature as a player, logging significant ice time and contributing consistently on both ends of the ice.

In March 2024, he was involved in a three-team trade that ultimately landed him with the Vegas Golden Knights, where he has added depth and experience to their blue line.

Over his NHL career, spanning more than 800 games, Hanifin has recorded around 75 goals and 278 assists.

He has also represented the United States internationally on multiple occasions, including winning gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

    Accolades

At the college level, Hanifin was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team and the Hockey East Second Team All-Star in 2015.

In the NHL, he was selected to the 2018 NHL All-Star Game.

He has also received the Ralph T. Scurfield Humanitarian Award from the Calgary Flames in 2022 for his community contributions.

Internationally, his achievements include captaining the U.S. team to gold at the 2014 IIHF World Under-18 Championship and contributing to Team USA’s gold medal victory at the 2026 Olympics, marking the country’s first in men’s hockey since 1980.
