Police in Nyeri County are investigating murder following the discovery of a mutilated female body dumped in a farm along the Nyeri–Ngangarithi Road.

According to police, the incident was reported by members of the public at about 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 11. The police visited the scene and established that the deceased was an unidentified adult African woman.

Investigators found that the body had been severely mutilated, with the head, both hands and both legs missing.

Preliminary observations indicated that the missing body parts had been deliberately severed from the torso.

A search was conducted in the surrounding area in an effort to recover the missing body parts, but nothing was found.

Police further established that the body was not fresh and is believed to have been dumped at the scene after the mutilation occurred elsewhere.

Crime scene officers documented the scene before the remains were transferred to the Nyeri County Referral Hospital mortuary, where they will be preserved pending identification and a post-mortem examination.

Detectives have commenced investigations to establish the identity of the deceased, determine the circumstances surrounding her death, and trace those responsible for the killing.

Meanwhile, police in Nyamira County have reclassified a sudden death case as murder following the results of a post-mortem examination that revealed the deceased suffered fatal head injuries.

The incident was initially reported on June 10, 2026, after a local informed police that a man had been found dead at Muruuga Village in Bigege Sub-location, Bosamaro Chache Location.

Police officers visited the scene and found the body of George Muchumba, a 50-year-old man, lying lifeless on his bed.

At the time, the death was recorded as a sudden death pending further investigations and a post-mortem examination.

However, the autopsy conducted on June 11 established that the deceased died as a result of injuries inflicted to the head by a blunt object.

Following the findings, investigators directed that the case records be amended from sudden death to murder, paving the way for a homicide investigation.

Detectives have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify those responsible.
