The Public Service Commission (PSC) has advertised 4,000 internship positions in the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development under the State Department for Housing and Urban Development.

In a public notice issued on July 22, 2025, PSC called on degree and diploma holders to apply for the internships, which will span 41 different professional disciplines.

The programme is part of the government’s push to support the Affordable Housing Programme and empower young professionals with practical skills.

Some of the key areas where interns are needed include architecture, construction management, and health and safety.

There are also several opportunities in civil, electrical, mechanical, and structural engineering, as well as quantity surveying and real estate. Other professional fields such as urban and regional planning, environmental studies, communication and branding, social development, valuation, and landscape architecture also feature prominently in the call.

The PSC further announced opportunities in economics, law, digital marketing, data entry, property management, actuarial science, and various inspection roles. Some positions such as data analysis, artificial intelligence, and ICT are limited to just a few slots.

To qualify, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or diploma from a recognised institution and must have graduated in 2018 or later. Basic computer skills are also required.

Successful applicants will be assigned duties by their supervisors, contribute to the Affordable Housing Programme, participate in mentorship and outreach activities, and promote project sites across the country. Each intern will receive a government-funded stipend during the internship period. Upon completion, they will be issued with a certificate from the State Department for Housing and Urban Development.

All applications must be submitted online through the PSC portal at www.publicservice.go.ke or www.psckjobs.go.ke by September 30, 2025.
