Raila Odinga’s brother Oburu Odinga said that his brother would not retire from politics. He said that the ODM leader was a politician by blood and therefore he would not go anywhere.

Oburu discredited the dynasties narrative saying that his father Jaramogi Odinga worked hard for his position and that his father was not well known. He told the politicians that those who wished that Raila retires were day dreaming.

The EALA legislator said that Raila’s appointment was not a Kenyan appointment. He described his brother as a statesman whose political journey would not come to an end as a result of his appointment.

This sentiments were echoed by Raila who declared that his latest appointment will not deter him from actively participating in Uhuru’s succession politics.

“I want to clarify that the recent appointment will not affect my political ambitions,” Raila told mourners during the burial of William Okello.

He said that the appointment will not gag politically because although he would be required to traverse around Africa his base will be in Kenya.

Raila put to rest the ongoing debate that the new appointment to the AU was an indication of his retirement from local politics.
