    Safaricom Now Helps You Secure Your Bonga Points with PIN Protection

    Subscribers of Safaricom can now protect their loyality rewards Bonga Points through a new PIN (personal identification number)-based security system. With the recently launched ability of subscribers ability to transfer their Bonga Points, many users have complained that their reward points have been ilegally transferred.

    This feature has been launched today and is meant to discourage unauthorized transfer of Bonga Points, under the popular loyalty scheme.

    Bonga Points was launched on January 23, 2007 and is open to all PrePay and PostPay subscribers. Bonga Points may be redeemed for various rewards ranging from free minutes, SMS, MMS and data bundles to devices at any Safaricom Shop countrywide from as low as 25 points.

    The points can also be transferred to a fellow subscriber.

    To set Bonga Points PIN, PrePay customers can follow the simple steps below:

    • Dial *126# and reply with 5 or dial *126*5#
    • Select the Set New PIN option
    • Enter National ID number
    • Enter the last direct top up amount
    • Enter PIN
    • Confirm PIN
    • Click OK to confirm

    For PostPay customers;

    • Dial *126# and reply with 5 or dial *126*5#
    • Enter current Bonga PIN
    • Enter new PIN
    • Confirm new PIN
    • Click OK to confirm
