I have always told The Standard group that the most useless department they have are their web content and design guys. These people knows nothing about websites for media houses and they have left The Standard to operate a website which looks like its is owned by some backstreet blogger or techie.

But today, the website is facing challenges. Since yesterday, you could not visit the website with normal Safari browser security settings. Today, all browsers brings you an alert when you try to visit the website.

There are various tools which you can use to scan the problem at Standard website. The website has apparently been attacked by Malwares 13 times for the last 90 days. Thats according to Google Safe Browsing tool.

Over the past 90 days, standardmedia.co.ke appeared to function as an intermediary for the infection of 3 site(s) including kennedytz.blogspot.com/,kenyastar.com/, eastandard.net/.

The following are some of the tools you can use to scan websites.

    1. PhishTank: PhishTank is a free community site where anyone can submit, verify, track and share phishing data. PhishTank is operated by OpenDNS, a company founded in 2005 to improve the Internet through safer, faster, and smarter DNS.
    2. AVG Online Web Page Scanner: The AVG LinkScanner Drop Zone lets you check the safety of individual web pages you are about to visit. You may have received a suspicious link in an e-mail — just copy the URL (web page address) and drop it into the box below. LinkScanner will examine the web page in real time to see whether it’s hiding any suspicious downloads.
    3. Google Safe Browsing: And this one comes straight from Google. It is a handy tool, which allows you to test a website which you think may not be genuine or distributing malware. In order to check it, you just need to type the following in your browser address bar –http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=<Your Target Website Address>
