The self-involved accident occurred at about 3:00 a.m. near the Riara Footbridge. Police said the vehicle was travelling from the Lang’ata direction towards the city when the driver lost control.
The BMW veered off the left side of the road, struck a pavement and crashed into the footbridge before bursting into flames.
The driver and two passengers, whose identities had not been established by the time of the report, were trapped inside the vehicle and were burnt beyond recognition.
Emergency responders and police officers rushed to the scene, where efforts to retrieve the bodies and remove the wreckage were still underway.
Police visited the scene and launched investigations to establish the cause of the crash.
The bodies will be moved to the mortuary for identification and post-mortem examination once they are recovered.
