Tuskys Supermarket has silently closed two key branches causing shock and jitters among suppliers.
According to sources at the chain, Tuskys closed the Tuskys Ruaka and Tuskys Hyrax branch which was located in Nakuru. The former was located in the bustling Ruaka suburb in Nairobi.
While the Tuskys Hyrax branch might have suffered from saturation of the market, the Ruaka branch’s closure is strangely being blamed on Two Rivers Mall, a claim which doesn’t make sense since Naivas Supermarket bought all the Tuskys stock and took up the branch’s operations after the exit.
Founded by Joram Kamau, the Tuskys Supermarket is suffering from poor management as we have indicated elsewhere. The chain is operational with mostly manual processes as top management shun automation to improve the processes.
Dan Githua detests Information Systems which can be used to manage processes. Processes like HR, cash flow management, supply chain, inventory management etc are all manual making it hard to clearly monitor the health of the chain.
Once accused by some directors of siphoning money from the chain, Dan Githua was strangely pushed back into Tuskys Supermarket by the only literate director, Stephen Mukuha, who is also the top supplier at the chain.
