Police in Narok East arrested two women in connection with the death of a 35-year-old man who was found dead inside a rented room at Ilkiragarien Trading Centre.

The deceased was identified as James Memusi, a Maasai man who was found lying on a broken bed with an injury on his forehead suspected to have been inflicted with a blunt object.

Police officers visited the scene and processed it before the body was removed to Narok County Referral Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination.

According to preliminary police investigations, Memusi returned to his rented house at about 1am while allegedly drunk and got into a physical confrontation with his girlfriend, her daughter and a neighbour.

Police said the three later locked Memusi inside the house and sought refuge at their landlord’s residence.

They reportedly returned to the room later in the morning and found him dead.

The woman and her daughter were arrested and detained at Nairegie Enkare Police Station to face murder charges.

The third suspect remained at large as of Tuesday, with police launching a manhunt for him.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding Memusi’s death are ongoing.

And police in Hamisi, Vihiga County, are investigating after the decomposing body of an unidentified woman was found inside a cubicle at newly constructed public market stalls in Gambogi Market.

The body was discovered on Monday, August 10, 2026, after members of the public reported a strong stench suspected to be coming from a decomposing body.

Police officers visited the scene and found the body of a female adult believed to be in her early 20s.

Police said the body was in an advanced state of decomposition and had become unrecognisable. It was found naked inside one of the market cubicles.

The scene was processed and documented by detectives before the body was removed to Vihiga Referral Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination and identification.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and how her body ended up inside the market stall.
