Detectives in Kisauni Sub-County have arrested two suspects linked to the murder of Stephen Opello, which took place on November 22, 2025, in Chembani, Mtopanga.
In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the suspects were identified as Julius Otieno Mageta, also known as Junior, and his alleged accomplice, Mohammed Omar Hamisi, also known as Babu.
The DCI said the two were tracked down and arrested after members of the public provided crucial information that led officers to their hideout.
Investigators said the suspects attacked Opello and left him with serious injuries. He was rushed to Coast General Hospital by members of the public, but later died while receiving treatment.
“The suspects are in custody and are being processed ahead of arraignment in court,” the DCI said.
