Ugenya by-election winner David Ochieng of MDG Party is grateful to Deputy President William Ruto for his support during the campaign period.

Ochieng garnered 18,730 votes beating ODM’s Chris Karan who came in a close second with 14,507 votes.

“Victory at last! The people of Ugenya have spoken and they have spoken it loudly. I want to take this time to thank the people of Ugenya, Deputy President William Ruto who supported my campaign, my party MDG and Kenyans who prayed for me during my campaign.

“I promise not to let the people of Ugenya down. Now is the time to get down to work. Many thanks,” Ochieng said.

The DP too thanked the “Hustler Nation” for voting overwhelmingly for Ochieng and his Embakasi South counterpart Julius Mawathe of Wiper party.

“Congratulations Ochieng (Ugenya) & Mawathe (Embakasi) for your God given victory. Jameni wacheni MUNGU aitwe MUNGU (Let God be called God). The hustler nation has spoken, the people have decided. GLORY TO THE ALMIGHTY GOD,” Ruto wrote on Twitter.

The DP who is keen on succeeding his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta come 2022 has been the trending topic on social media under the #AsanteRuto.

His critics have thanked for his continued stealing of public funds while his supporters continued to urge him to keep on forging ahead.

Here are some of the reactions:

It's funny how William Ruto supporters can turn to desparation. William Ruto is not a factor in Nairobi politics. William Ruto is not a factor in Ugenya. Wiper won in Embakasi. MDG won in Ugenya. It's that's simple. #AsanteRuto

What Ruto can see while sleeping, Raila Odinga cannot see while standing on top of KICC !!

But it is you, ODM noise makers, who declared that both the Embakasi nd Ugenya byelections were a contest between@WilliamsRuto and Raila. In both campaigns, the rallying call was against Ruto. Then tell me; what is wrong when it is declared that Ruto has beaten Raila?#AsanteRuto

If you want to know what is wrong with our country and the youth then read the tweets on this #AsanteRuto . They don’t prosecute issues like youth unemployment, collapsing healthcare, education, commodity prices, agriculture, Economy, food security and other important matters.
