Police launched investigations after an unidentified woman was found dead in her rented house in the Masikani area of Mutonya, Ruiru Sub-County, Kiambu County.

The deceased, believed to be about 30 years old, was found lifeless on her bed on Thursday afternoon after the incident was reported to police.

Police visited and processed the scene.

Preliminary investigations established that the woman had no visible external injuries. Neighbours told investigators that she was a habitual alcohol user and had reportedly been suffering from liver-related complications.

The body was moved to General Kago Funeral Home, where it will remain pending identification and a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.

    Police are continuing with investigations.

And the body of a 39-year-old man who drowned on Wednesday evening was retrieved from the water in Nyatike Sub-County, Migori County.

Police said local divers, working alongside members of the public, recovered the body of Evance Oluoch during a joint search operation on Thursday.

Police visited and processed the scene before the body was removed to Migori County Referral Hospital Mortuary.

Police said the body had no visible physical injuries and is awaiting a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.

The recovery follows a drowning incident that was reported on July 15, with investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death continuing.

Meanwhile, detectives launched a murder investigation after the body of a 39-year-old man was discovered in a tea plantation behind Mukuuri Catholic Church in Embu East Sub-County, Embu County.

The deceased, identified as Gibson Murithi, was found on Thursday after members of the public alerted authorities about the body lying in the plantation.

Police officers visited and processed the scene.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased had sustained deep panga cuts to the head, blunt force trauma, and partial burns on the thighs. Investigators believe the body had been covered with dry tea leaves and prunings in an apparent attempt to conceal the crime and burn the remains.

Police recovered suspected murder weapons from the scene.

The deceased’s former wife was arrested and taken to Runyenjes Police Station for further interrogation as detectives pursue the circumstances surrounding the killing.

The body was moved to Ena Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

Investigations into the murder are ongoing.
