Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has explained why some administrative units in Kuresoi South Constituency are yet to be fully operational.

Responding to a request by Kuresoi South MP Joseph Tonui, Murkomen said that while Tinet and Kiplagich were gazetted as divisions under Gazette Notice No. 5853 dated June 21, 2017, they have not been operationalized due to lack of funding.

However, Sotiki and Kabongoi locations were operationalized in 2020.

“Bararget Location is still pending operationalization among the referenced units,” Murkomen stated.

He explained that the Ministry has not received the required budgetary allocation to fully operationalize all the gazetted units.

“Once funds are appropriated, the Ministry is committed to proceeding with the full operationalization of the remaining units,” he said.

Murkomen added that the Ministry has begun discussions with the National Treasury to secure the necessary funding.

He noted that once the resources are available, the Ministry will prioritize implementation, including the deployment of staff and establishment of infrastructure.

“The Ministry remains fully committed to ensuring all gazetted administrative units are operationalized to strengthen government presence and improve service delivery, especially in underserved areas,” he said.
