Kibera High Court Tuesday denied Sarah Wairimu Kamotho bond for the second time after the prosecution opposed the renewed application for bail.

The court, through Justice Diana Mochache, ruled that Sarah Wairimu Kamotho, charged with the murder of Dutch tycoon Tob Cohen, would remain in custody at Langata Women’s Prison until when the defense would demonstrate a change of circumstances to warrant a review of the bail decision.

The prosecution, led by Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Vincent Monda, had opposed her bond review application, citing her intimidation of prosecution witnesses, being a flight risk, and tampering with the crime scene.

The court found a likelihood of witness interference and flight risk, as Wairimu had fraudulently obtained a second passport while the first was in police custody.

The court found that there had not been a sufficient change of circumstances to warrant a review of the bail decision.

The court emphasized the importance of protecting witnesses and the integrity of the criminal justice system.

Moreover, the court allowed a visit to the crime scene by the defense team but emphasized strict conditions to protect evidence.

She is alleged to have murdered her husband on the July 19, 2019 in the Lower Kabete area within Nairobi County.

The matter will be mentioned on July 30, 2025 for directions.
