    Man fatally stabs his two children in Samburu

    A man ran amok and killed his two children in a domestic fight in Yare area, Maralal, Samburu County.

    The children were aged six (girl) and four (boy), police said.

    The assailant escaped the scene after the murder on Sunday September 28, 2025 morning, police said.

    His wife escaped with injuries after she had been stabbed in the head.

    She told police the husband, aged 36 had arrived home late in the night and picked up a quarrel with her.

    The children had taken dinner and rested on their beds in their rental house.

    It was then the man turned violent and picked up a knife he had holstered around his waist and cruelly slit the throats of the two sleeping children fatally injuring them on the spot.

    He then attempted to attack his wife who escaped with a cut on her head, police said.

    The assailant immediately escaped into the darkness leaving behind the gory lifeless bodies of the two children and the knife’s sheath.

    Police were called to the scene and collected the bodies to the mortuary pending an autopsy. The mother was taken to the hospital where she was admitted in a stable condition.

    Meanwhile, police in Gesima, Nyamira County are investigating murder after a body was found dumped in an unused open pit latrine.

    The body of Benedict Sambu, 45 was found dumped in the latrine after he had been murdered, police said.

    Police said the deceased had a deep cut on the head and blood stains. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.

    The motive of the murder is yet to be known, police said.

    Elsewhere in Maseno, Kisumu County, police are investigating an incident where human remains were found at Obado Hills.

    Police visited the scene and collected a human skull, dry bones and black long trousers.

    They were moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, identification and investigations.

    In Musoli area, Kakamega County, a body of a man was found lying on the banks of River Yala.

    The man was identified as Zedrick Ochonyo, 42. He had been missing for a week.

    The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.
