Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) detectives have dismantled a suspected drug trafficking network in Mombasa, arresting three suspects and seizing cannabis valued at approximately Sh6 million.
In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the operation was conducted in the Mtopanga area of Mombasa County following a tip-off from members of the public.
Detectives raided a two-bedroom house suspected to be a drug distribution centre and recovered three sacks containing cannabis sativa weighing about 200 kilograms.
Officers also seized a Honda motorcycle, registration number KMGA 080F, which is believed to have been used in the transportation and distribution of the narcotics.
The suspects were identified as Ruth Ayoo Ouko, Peter Juma Kamito and Dennis Wandera Okuku.
The three were taken into custody and are currently undergoing processing pending their arraignment in court.
“Meanwhile, the recovered narcotics are being detained as exhibits,” the DCI said.
