A 30 year old man died after a matatu crushed his head as he alighted from the vehicle while it was on motion along Lang’ata Road, Nairobi.  Police said the incident happened on Friday August 30 at about 8 pm at the Carnivore bus stop. The deceased identified as Keith Nyakundi tried to alight from the matatu as it headed for Rongai direction when he misstepped. According to police, as a result, he fell Kkk the road headfirst. Almost 40,000 people died alone in their homes in Japan during the first half of 2024, a report by the country’s police shows. Of that number, nearly 4,000 people were discovered more than a month after they died, and 130 bodies went unmissed for a year before they were found, according to the National Police Agency. National Hockey League star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother were killed in a car accident in New Jersey on Thursday night. The Columbus Blue Jackets player – who was 31 – and his younger brother Matthew, 29, were riding their bicycles on a rural road in Oldsman Township when a car struck them, New Jersey police told the BBC. Almost 6,200 people were murdered in South Africa in just three months. Between the start of April and the end of June, the police recorded 6 198 murders across the country and, although the overall number of murders decreased for the quarter year-on-year, four of the nine provinces experienced an increase in murders, according to Police Minister Senzo Mchunu. The body of a 25 year old man was found on the roadside in Nairobi’s Lucky summer area.   The discovery was made on Thursday morning long after the victim had died at Hussein Bridge. Kenya’s counterterrorism actors registered another successful win after the conviction of Abdul Najib Mohamed previously known as George Oluoch Awiti, who was sentenced by Siaya Principal Magistrate to serve 20 years in prison for involvement in terrorism activities. A Florida man found guilty of killing a college freshman and raping the victim’s older sister while the two were on a camping trip was executed on Thursday.  The state administered a lethal injection to 57-year-old Loran Cole at Florida State Prison. He was pronounced dead at 18:15 local time (23:15 BST). He was given the death penalty for killing 18-year-old John Edwards in 1994, and was also serving two life sentences for rape.
